Mulay Current Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo, and Global Fashion Designer, Sanjana Jon, have teamed up to promote AIDS Awareness and the Save the Girl Child campaign: On August 21st, the Honorable Consul General of India, Shri Dnyaneshwar M. Mulay, hosted the launch of Sanjana Jon’s 2013 Tour of India which will feature the reigning Miss Universe, Olivia Culpo. The tour is slated for September 27th through October 6th and will include trips to the capital, New Delhi, along with Mumbai, Agra and several other key cities in India. The tour will help promote AIDS Awareness and the Save the Girl Child campaign which strives to fight female feticide and empower women of all ages. The primary focus will be to eradicate female feticide especially in the states of Sanjana Jon began these tours in 2004 with then Miss Universe, Jennifer Hawkins. The tours have grown exponentially since then, evolving into an established awareness movement, with the primary focus being to eradicate female feticide especially in the states of Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan. Sanjana Jon started her career working with her brother, Anand Jon, in New York to create a jewelry line which was endorsed by the likes of Iman, David Bowie, and Barbara Hershey and supported AMFAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research. They pushed the concept further with a men’s collection donned by Bruce Springsteen, the Backstreet Boys, Prince, Collective Soul, and Matchbox 20. The line even had support from royalty at the Cannes Film Festival including Prince Albert of Monaco, Princess Sorayya, Princess Sara Al Saud, and Princess Olivia de Borbon. VARLI Celebrates 3 Year Anniversary with Top 20 Recipes Cookbook launch benefiting Diya Foundation from left to right : Varli Singh (CEO & Founder, Varli brand), Ambassador Dnyaneshwar Mulay, Aarti Chabria (Bollywood actress), Ricky Singh (Director, Diya Foundation) Indian Cuisine powerhouse, VARLI Magazine celebrated 3 successful years at the First Annual Summer Tasting Event in Long Island on August 7th. VARLI Magazine, known for promoting Indian cuisine, hosted an outdoor food tasting event at Mint restaurant in Garden City, with celebrity guest, Bollywood Actress Aarti Chabria. Over 300 guests enjoyed eclectic dishes from various Indian restaurants and celebrity chefs, Chef Gary Sikka, Chef Bachan Rawat, Chef Navjot Arora, Chef Kausik Roy, Parul Patel and an array of wonderful summer cocktails. The evening was hosted by New York Comedian, Anish Shah. Varli Singh, CEO and Founder of VARLI Magazine announced the launch of Varli Cookbook, a cookbook filled with 20 top Indian cuisine recipes. Varli top 20 Cookbook was released by honorable Ambassador Dnyaneshwar Mulay & Aarti Chabria. The proceeds from the cookbook, priced at only $3, will go to the Diya Foundation’s Save A Child campaign. “This event was a true representation of what the Varli brand stands for; showcasing the best in outdoor Indian cuisine while giving back to the community and raising funds for kids in need” says Varli Singh. The inaugural Varli Summer Tasting, in association with Mint Restaurant, gave foodies a chance to enjoy succulent Indian food and experience delicious outdoor grilling, tandoor, and BBQ. During the evening, Aarti Chabria and Chef Gary Sikka of Mint restaurant did a live cooking demo and crafted a delicious Lobster Masala dish. Another special food tasting was done by Varli Cook-Off 2012 contestants Reshma Bathija & Jyoti Singh. An additional highlight of the evening was the launch of Varli Club for Diya, an education initiative started by Varli Singh. Varli Singh, Gary Sikka, and Aarti Chabria also recognized many of Varli’s supporters throughout the years, honoring them with plaques and medals. A very special thanks was given to Vandana M Puri of DVN2 Entertainment for supporting the Save a Child campaign. The Varli mission has always been about increasing the awareness of Indian cuisine.
